Vacation Bible School & Camp Details

Early Drop-Off:  Children who are dropped off Early should be dropped off at the Christian Life Center- CLC.  Look for Signs. Check-in will take place beginning at 8am.

VBS begins at 9am: Children starting their morning with VBS should enter the main doors and check-in at the registration tables before entering the sanctuary.  Children will be grouped according to age and go through a rotation of classes including story, science, recreation, snack, lunch, music, mission, craft, and more.  Our Vacation Bible School is gentle and  designed for children that have or have not been exposed to church.  If you have questions about the theology or content of VBS, please reach out to Erin Soza, Director of Children's Ministries.

Lunch:  Lunch will be incorporated into the VBS rotation.  Depending on the number of campers we will offer one or 2 lunch sessions.  Water will be provided and a morning snack, however we ask for families to provide a lunch each day except on Friday, when we will provide a pizza party lunch.

Half Day Dismissal:  Children who are only attending VBS will be dismissed at 1pm from the sanctuary at the main entrance.

VBS and Afternoon Day Camp Children Dismissal:  Children staying for Afternoon Day Camp following  VBS will be picked up at the CLC entrance.

A few other things to note:

Children are asked to bring a packed lunch to camp each day, except on Friday.  We celebrate the end of VBS with a pizza party.  Children still have the option to pack their own lunch on Friday they prefer.

Children who are registered for camp will receive a very detailed e-mail approximately a month before camp begins.

VBS Volunteer Registration & Training

Volunteer Needs:

Volunteers are needed Monday through Friday. We can share/split volunteer roles for those who are able to offer less than a full week of service. Some volunteer roles require full day efforts but some might only require an hour or two each day. Some of the preparation options can even take place on your own schedule. If you have a heart to help support Vacation Bible School but have questions, please be in contact; Erin Soza, Director of Children's Ministries esoza@stpaulsumc.com.

Leaders and Assistant Leaders in the topics of: science, craft, recreation, snack, lunch. Volunteers in this area would have prep work and be in a room where children of different ages come into that area on a rotation between 9-noonish.

Specialty Leaders and Assistants for music, assembly time, lunch, closing time, dismissal, check-in. These volunteers would work along side Staff or Leadership in some cases for a shorter time interval throughout the day.

Class Leaders and Assistants for Kindergarten through 6th grade. These volunteers do not have much prep work. These volunteers take attendance and lead children through the daily rotation and support the needs of the children during class time. Volunteers in this group would be helping between the hours of 9am-1pm.

Decorating and Planning Volunteers. Volunteers would be willing to meet and work on items outside of the time constraints of June 22-26 to help lift the work load and contribute to making VBS exceptionally special.

All VBS volunteers over the age of 18 need to have PA State mandated Clearances. All volunteers also need to attend a VBS Training Class that will be offered in June.
