Youth Ministries

"We have this hope as an anchor, firm and secure. It's an unbreakable spiritual lifeline reaching past all appearances right to the very presence of God ~Hebrews 6:19

WHERE STUDENTS GROW IN CONNECTIONS & FAITH

It is our hope that St. Paul’s UMC Youth Ministry will be a safe space for students to come exactly as they are; know the love of Jesus because of the experiences they share with peers and leaders; then go out and be the love of Jesus to the world around them.

CONFIRMATION - 8th Grade(+)

Confirmation is an invitation and opportunity for our current 8th graders and up who have yet to complete their Confirmation at St. Paul’s UMC. The Confirmation curriculum is uniquely designed to engage our students in a way that will help them to truly connect what they believe and understand about the church with what they experience in the world around them. We hope to equip our Confirmands with effective tools to impact their world for the better as a follower of Jesus.

Please contact Tami Weisner if you are interested in participating in Confirmation at St. Paul’s UMC.

Location: Library Resource Center

@ 9:00AM (Start Date: October 1)

ANCHOR (Grades 6-12)

Students gather with leaders for a time of teaching and discussion.

Fall Curriculum: ABIDE by Ministry to Youth LLC

§ To abide means to remain or stay or continue. In the context of our faith as Christians, it means that we remain focused on Jesus, we stay aware of His presence in our lives, and we continue to live in response to the things He leads us to say or do. Life is busy… and distracting… and stressful. Most of us could use some help slowing down our brains and clearing our heads enough to hear God’s voice. The Abide curriculum includes a daily devotional those students who want dive deeper throughout the week.

Location: Youth Room

@ 9:30AM

Sunday Evenings

YOUTH GROUP – Grades 6-12

A big part of feeling connected as community is consistent time spent together. We gather weekly to have fun, talk about life and learn about Jesus. We are intentional about serving our students in a way that is valuable and relevant to their everyday lives. This year’s Youth Ministry focus will be on WHOLENESS. Overall wellness is of high priority amongst our teens and when Jesus is at the center of every area of wellness, we discover what it means to be whole.

Weekdays & Special Events

Weekdays & Special Events

Throughout the year, there will be several opportunities to join a group focused on a particular project, Bible study, or special event. Be sure to sign up for the Weekly Youth Ministry Emails so that you can get connected to what interests you most.

Retreats

Laurelville

Laurelville weekends are led by the Pittsburgh Kids Foundation featuring high energy worship and games specifically designed to build relationships between students, adult leaders, and Jesus. There is a massive mud pit, goofy skits, amazing worship, mud football and shenanigans galore.

Ways to Serve

Ways to Serve

Students are encouraged to put their faith into action through local, national and international mission! There are several ways in which they can do this locally - they can assist with our Children’s Church, serve as ushers or readers during worship, participate in our music ministries and countless other volunteer opportunities. We also have several community events like Fall Fest, Pancake Dinners, Egg My Yard, March Mad Dash, etc. that help raise funds for students who want to serve nationally/internationally as high school students.

Adults who want to support and serve alongside our students are asked to obtain clearances through the state of Pennsylvania and attend Safe Sanctuaries Training. Those 18 years of age or older must have clearances on file with the church in order to volunteer for any St. Paul’s event in which youth our children are participating. Please contact the church office for assistance in obtaining clearances.

Tami Weisner

Director of Youth Ministries

tweisner@stpaulsumc.com

Tami has served as the Director of Youth Ministries for 20 years. She graduated from Westminster College, moved to Colorado and now lives in Glenshaw with her husband Mike, son Clayton and their golden retriever Doah. She loves the outdoors, so much so that she also works as a guide for LLBean. When the weather turns cold, if she’s not playing in the snow, she’s probably enjoying a hot chai tea latte while prepping for Sundays. Most importantly she wants you to know your value as a child of God and how God delights in you. So, jump into youth ministry at St. Paul’s UMC and see where Jesus is leading you.
