Youth Ministries

Tami D. Weisner, Director of Youth Ministries / 412.486.7006 / 412.760.9989

Our youth ministry is built on Scripture, Hebrews 6:19: “We have this hope as an anchor, firm and secure.  It’s an unbreakable spiritual lifeline reaching past all appearances right to the very presence of God.”

Every student is encouraged to come as they are to know the love of God, by experiencing the love of God so that you can be the love of God.

St. Paul’s Youth Ministry provides a variety of ways for middle school & high school students to get involved with other young people learning together to align their lives and relationships with Christ at the center.  You are invited to come, as you are to know the love of God by experiencing the love of God so that you can be the love of God.  It is never the wrong time to jump into youth ministry at St. Paul’s, all are welcome all of the time.  Please come and find out what youth ministry at St. Paul’s might look like for you.

Overview of Ministries:

Craig Slusser  Youth Worship Arts Specialist

Do you love music and the arts?  Singing?  Playing? Listening?  This group of students get together each week to enjoy music and the arts.  This is not about choir.  It’s all about exploring the arts and discovering how you can use your artistic talents in worship. Craig Slusser,  our Youth Worship Arts Specialist, is amazingly talented and he wants to help each of you discover the talents God has given you.

See  you at 6 pm on Sundays.  November thru December we will be creating our very own Christmas Carole for December 16 Dinner theater and parts to be used on Christmas Eve.

ANCHOR:  9:15 am Sunday Mornings

The first of many ways during the week you can connect.  This is where you can enter into a journey with Christ through music, teaching and small group discussions.  ANCHOR is your chance to meet new people, hear God’s word and build relationships with adults and students who care about you as an individual.  All youth (Grades 6-12) are welcome at ANCHOR and we meet in the youth room on Sunday mornings.  The curriculum for ANCHOR is based off of the scripture text being taught in the sanctuary during worship.

CREW happens weekly and is a time of fellowship and growth as we discover how life and faith intertwine.  There are always topics on the table for discussion and/or debate and of course we find plenty of time to play together.  We have some amazing retreats already scheduled for the fall and you certainly do not want to miss those.  CREW is where it’s at, so be there!

MIDHI meets on Wednesdays at 6-7:30 pm

SRHI meets on Sundays at 7-9  pm

COFFEE HOUR – THURSDAYS at 4:00 in Youth Room Cafe

This year, we are going to be intentional about connecting with God’s word at Coffee Hour.  God gave us a book of stories because that’s how we learn most naturally.  When words create pictures that we can understand and remember, the truth behind those pictures sinks in and sticks with us.  At Coffee Hour, sometimes we play games but all the time we have quality conversations.  This small group is an awesome way to build new or strengthen old friendships and stay connected during the week.  You do not even have to like coffee; there are many cold drink options, hot cocoa and teas.   Bonus: Free Drink for First Timers!  Come and just hang out with us… it’s super fun!

CONFIRMATION CLASS of 2017:  meets on Sundays at 5 pm

Jeremiah 29:13 “You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.”
Confirmation Class will begin on Sunday, September 25.  It is “Parents Night” complete with an overview of expectations for this year’s class.  I am excited to meet all of you and your parents. Students in 8th grade are invited and welcome to join us as we embark on a journey of faith and understanding of what it means to live our lives as disciples of Jesus Christ.  High School students who have never participated in the Confirmation Class experience are also invited to join us.  This is a time in your life to really own your personal decision to follow Christ and to discover more about your church family and the role it plays in your everyday life.   If you have questions or concerns about the class, please do not hesitate to call Tami or Jeff at 412.486.7006.

CORE Leadership Team (Grades 7-12)

Are you full of ideas?  Have lots of energy?  Ready to lead other students to Christ?  If you said YES to any of these questions, CORE might just be the next challenge for you.  CORE is designed to be a fun, challenging and training ministry for students who are ready to disciple their peers.  If you are in 7th Grade or older and interested in how you can best serve on CORE, please talk to Tami and tell her why you think you’re right for our CORE team.  CORE meets at various times throughout the year.

ADULTS: Are you looking for a place to share your energy and talents?

We have lots of teenage students who would love to share their energy and talents with you.   This is a great year to get involved as a youth ministry advisor.  Our current advisor team would love to mentor you as you begin a relationship with our students.  So, if helping with the youth has ever been a glimmer in your eye, get in touch with our Youth Director, Tami Weisner, and she will find a way for you to connect.  Give it a try and guaranteed our students will find their way into your heart as you grow in faith together, having fun every step of the way.

There is always something going on in Youth Ministry – Come find out what’s in it for you!
