Volunteers in Mission

Chile 2015 Work Camp 2015

The purpose of St. Paul’s UMC Volunteers In Mission is to provide an opportunity for adults to share their God given gifts and skills to help people in need.  It is our vision to encourage individuals to participate in mission work, either as part of a group or as individuals.  Our intent is to complete several local mission projects and one national project each year.  You do not need previous mission experience or any particular skills; you only need a desire to serve the Lord through your works.

Since the fall of 2006 members and friends of St. Paul’s UMC have volunteered with our VIM team and have completed:

  • 34 local projects
  • 1 conference project (Blitz-Build, Mercer,PA)
  • 7 national work camps – (Gulfport, MS; Cedar Rapids, IA; Red Bird Mission, KY; Nashville, TN, Plains, PA, Crisfield, MD; Somers Point, NJ)
  • 90 work days
  • Over 6,450 volunteer hours
  • Over 90 different people have volunteered their time and talents

In addition to working on several local projects in 2014, 30 members of our group spent a week in Somers Point, NJ, repairing homes that had been damaged by Hurricane Sandy in October 2012.
