St. Paul’s welcomes children of all ages to experience the love of God through caring adults and a supportive community of faith.

Children’s Ministry Mission Statement: St. Paul’s Children’s Ministry calls, equips, and deploys adults with a passion for Children’s ministries to connect with children in diverse situations, nurturing the spirit within children so that the awareness of God in their lives will lead them to faithful service as disciples of Jesus Christ.

Advent Luncheon, Wreath and Gingerbread Making.– all proceeds benefit Sawyer Rebholtz Memorial Fund

Advent is a season leading up to Christmas observed as a time of expectant waiting and preparation for the celebration of the Nativity and birth of Jesus at Christmas. Many traditions count down the 4 weeks prior to Christmas.  St. Paul’s uses an Advent Wreat and lit candles to mark the passing of time over the 4 weeks prior to Christmas.  Come make your own Advent wreath to use at home.  Please click here to register to attend and ensure we have enough pre made gingerbread houses and wreath supplies.

Children are welcome and encouraged to stay in the sanctuary during church.  However, for families and children that prefer a specially designed children’s time during worship, we offer Children’s Church.  The children are divided into 2 groups, 4 year-olds thru Kindergarten and 1st and 2nd graders.  During worship, usually following a Children’s Message, children are dismissed to the Chapel and then proceed to the Children’s Church Classroom with the Ushers and Children’s Church Leaders. A child friendly Bible lesson and prayer is shared during Children’s Church. Please register children above in the online registration before your child attends Children’s Church.

Children’s Mission Trips and Projects:

No Mission Impossible Club (NoMIC) This ministry is designed for third thru fifth graders to learn how to be mission minded and share time and talent with others. It is never too early to begin serving others!  Our children’s ministries incorporate reaching out to others in the community throughout the year.  NoMIC has a planning meeting every other Sunday from 3:30-5:30 p.m..   Usually, one of the meetings is designed to go off-site on a “mission.”  What a great way to learn how to share the love of Christ with others! See the NoMIC Calendar (Coming Soon) Contact Bob and Cindy White with questions or to help support this mission (412-487-1085)

Summer Ministries

Summers are extra fun at St. Paul’s. Creative Arts Camp and Vacation Bible School are offered each summer. The Weekday Children’s Ministry offers, Summer PreSchool Camp, and Summer Drop-In Childcare along with Kidz Korner: Summer Venture, a summer day camp for elementary-aged children.  Click here for more detailed information about the listed Children’s Summer Ministries.

Volunteering

Our Children’s Ministries rely upon adults who volunteer and share their gifts with children.  Curriculum and training are offered to support adults who lead any of the variety of programs offered.  If you have a heart for children, you’ll undoubtedly grow in your own faith by volunteering to help with the children’s programming.  Please consider offering your talents to help our children grow to be disciples of Jesus Christ. Please contact Erin Soza if you have a gift or time you’d like to share with children esoza@stpaulsumc.com or 412-486-7006 x17.   Amanda Greenland represents the Children’s Ministry itinerary before Council coordinating the Children’s Ministries visionary plan.

Safe Sanctuary

We practice Safe Sanctuary guidelines for all adults who work with children and youth.  An hour long training course is part of the requirements for volunteering.  In addition, Act 33/34 criminal and child abuse history is checked.  Our goal is to create a safe, nurturing environment and reduce the risk of child abuse from occurring during St. Paul’s activities.
