Kindergarten Enrichment Page

Our Kindergarten Enrichment program at St. Paul’s provides families with care and additional educational time for Kindergarteners that attend half day Kindergarten at Wyland, Peebles and Hosack Elementary Schools.   Taught by a certified Kindergarten teacher, Enrichment sessions are planned to include activities designed to stimulate students’ minds and creativity and to provide a safe place to play and learn.  Our small class sizes provide children with the individual and small group time to support their needs and development by building meaningful relationships with the teachers and peers.  Transportation is provided to Enrichment students.

We cannot accommodate children at Peebles, Hosack or Wyland for morning or afternoon care only; they must be enrolled in the enrichment program.  Please note that no discounts are given for Kindergarten families that do not utilize before or after care.

Our Kindergarten Day

The purpose of our Kindergarten Enrichment program is to support the learning that takes place in your child’s Kindergarten class by offering engaging activities, skill practice, and choice time for children.  Through a balance of structured and free choice times during the day children are able to build upon the academic skills they are learning in their district Kindergarten as well as those important social and emotional skills that set children up for success.  We serve lunch to children in a family style setting to encourage independence, community and relationship building with peers and teachers.  Our small class sizes offer a wonderful opportunity to children to practice, learn and grow with close teacher support.

Kindergarten Communications

We believe in the importance of keeping families involved in our Kindergarten day so we employ a few methods in order to do so.  Each week families are provided with copies our Kindergarten calendar which provides families with the activities we will be doing each day in class.  A newsletter is sent home each month with an overview of the themes to be explored and any upcoming events or important dates.  Please see the newsletters from this year below.

Each day our Kindergarten teacher prepares a short reflection on the activities of the previous day as a way to further share our classroom activities with families.  Reflections include a short narrative explaining the skills we are working on, quotations from the children and photos of the kids in action.

We also plan formal times to meet with families in late fall and spring in order to discuss our observations of children’s progress and ways to best support our children.
