Staff Biographies

The following are the staff of St. Paul’s Drop-In Day Care.  We welcomed a number of new faces this year, and their pictures and profiles will be added shortly.  For easy reference, the staff members are listed in alphabetical order by their first names.

Miss Agnes is an Assistant Group Supervisor who has been working at the Child Care since 1993.  She grew up in McKeesport, Pennsylvania and has a high school education.  She is a widow with one daughter and 2 cats.  When asked what the best part of working at child care was, Agnes responded that she loves taking care of the babies.

Miss Amy H. is an Assistant Director who has been working at the Child Care since summer 2012.  She grew up in the Child Care’s backyard – Allison Park, Pennsylvania – and has a B.S. in Child Development and Family Studies, as well as a M.A. in Special Education/Early Intervention.  She is married to a wonderful man named Christopher and has one son, Owen.  She has a dog, Brandy.  When asked what the best part of working at child care was, Amy responded that she loves watching the children grow and learn.

Miss Betty is a Group Supervisor who previously worked at the Child Care from 1993 to 2009; she was also the Director of the program from 2003 to 2009.  She grew up in both Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and in St. Louis, Missouri.  She possesses a RN from the Presbyterian-University Hospital School of Nursing.  She is married to a wonderful man named Jim with whom she has four children: Sandi, Jim, Chris and Jeff.  She also has five grandchildren and one dog named Dora.  When asked what she loves the most about working at Child Care, Betty responded that she likes talking to the children and seeing them grow.

Miss Cara is a Group Supervisor who has working at the Child Care since 2014.  She grew up in the Child Care’s backyard – Allison Park, Pennsylvania – and has a B.S. in Psychology from West Virginia, Wesleyan College.  She is single and has no pets, but does have a wonderful little boy named Milo.  When asked what the best part about working at child care was, Cara responded that she loves the hugs she receives from the children.

Miss Crista is a Teacher-Caregiver who has worked at the Drop-In Child Care since 2015.  She grew up in Richland, Pennsylvania and possesses a degree from a four-year college.  She is married to a wonderful man named Jim, with whom she has two children.  She also has two pet fish.  When asked what sh loves most about working with children, Crista responded that she loves seeing the children’s development over time, seeing them learn to talk, walk, change their behavior and learning to trust their peers.

Miss Dea is an Assistant Group Supervisor who has been working at Child Care since 2013.  She grew up in the North Hills and possesses a high school diploma from Oakland Catholic High School.  She is married to a wonderful man named Andrew with whom she has one son – Damon – who is six years old.  She also has one cat named Jay.  When asked what she loves about working at St. Paul’s Drop-In Child Care, Dea responded that she loves all of the kids with whom she interacts.

Miss Ece is a Group Supervisor and has been working at Child Care since 2015.  She grew up in Izmir, Turkey and possesses a B.A. and M.A. in Art Education from Ohio State University.  She is married to a wonderful man named Bedirhan (and has been for 17 years) and has two children: Atahan and Bilgehan.  She currently has no pets.  When asked what the best part of working at child care was, Ece responded that teaching is her passion, and she loves teaching kids to make a change.  To her, every child is a different world to explore.  While she’s with the kids, she can keep her inner child alive and happy.

Miss Helen is a Floor Supervisor and has been working at the Child Care since November 2000.  She grew up in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.  She is married to a wonderful man named Richard and has two children: Jess and Jon.   When asked what the best part of working at child care was, Helen responded that it was helping the children to learn to share and play well with others.

Miss Hema is an Assistant Group Supervisor and has been working at the Child Care since 2014.  She is from India and has a B.S. in Accounts.  She is married to a wonderful man named David Michael and has two children: Jason and Janita.  She has no pets at this time.  When asked what she likes best about working at child care, Hema responded that she loves being with the children and putting a smile on their faces.  She also loves helping the kids to learn and grow, as well as being a part of the wonderful team of co-workers at the Child Care.

Miss Jen is a Group Supervisor who has been working at Child Care since 2016.  She grew up in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and earned an Associated in Culinary  Arts with a certification in Dietary Management, and is currently studying for her Bachelor’s Degree in Pre-K through 4th Grade Education.  She is single and has no pets  When asked what her favorite part of working at Child Care was, Jen responded that she loves watching the children grow an develop their own personalities over time; the smiles and giggles she sees are icing on the cake in terms of their developing personalities.  The children’s constant curiosity makes each day she sees them interesting.

Miss Kathy is a Group Supervisor/Floor Supervisor who has been working at the Child Care since October 2010.  She grew up in Etna, Pennsylvania and has a B.A. in Social Sciences.  She is married to a wonderful man named Ron and has two kids: a daughter named Kristen and a son named Jonathan.  She has no pets.  When asked what the best part about working at child care was, Kathy responded that she loves interacting with the children.

Miss Kayla C. is an Assistant Group Supervisor who has been working at the Child Care since 2011.  She grew up in Shaler, Pennsylvania and has her Early Childhood Associates degree from Community College of Allegheny County North (Perry Highway).  She is single and has no kids, but does have two dogs.  When asked what she likes best about working at child care, Kayla responded that she loves working with the kids.

Miss Mary Lou is a Pre-K Aide who has been working at the Drop-In Child Care for a few years now.  She grew up in St. Paul’s own backyard of Wexford, Pennsylvania, and does have a college degree.  She is married to a wonderful man named Jeff and has three children: Jennifer, Elizabeth and Christopher.  Mary Lou also has a dog named Kobi and two cats named Abner and Luna.  When asked what her favorite part of working at St. Paul’s is, Mary Lou responded that she loves interacting with the children and seeing them grow and change over the years.

Miss Pam is a Teacher’s Aid who has been employed by St. Paul’s for about a year now.  She worked for Kidz Korner in the 2016-17 school year before deciding to come downstairs to work with younger children this fall.  She grew up in Hampton, Pennsylvania (practically next door!) and went to the Art Institute of Pittsburgh.  She also attended the Institute of Children’s Literature in Connecticut and the Community College of Allegheny College.  Pam has been married for 26 years to a wonderful man named Chuck.  They have no children, but do have one cat named Two-Bit.  When asked what her favorite part of working at Child Care was, Pam responded that she loves being part of a team with staff members who have the same goals that she has; that is, enriching the lives of young children.
