The purpose of St. Paul's UMC Volunteers In Mission is to provide an opportunity for adults to share their God given gifts and skills to help people in need.  It is our goal to encourage individuals to participate in mission work, either as part of a group or as individuals.  Our intent is to complete several local mission projects and one national project each year.  You do not need previous mission experience or any particular skills; you only need a desire to serve the Lord through your works.

We have completed 6 projects this first year.  We have built 2 wheelchair access ramps, removed shrubs and bushes from a yard, rebuild a stone wall, reset stones around a garden pool, removed a large picket fence and replace it with a new fence and removed old exterior steps and built new ones.  We did repair work at a UMC parsonage so that a family from our congregation could be closer to one of their sons while he underwent medical treatment at Children's hospital in Pittsburgh.  Fifteen different volunteers have spent over 230 hours completing these projects.  We would like to thank all those volunteers and the people and organizations that have contributed money and materials in order that we could complete these projects.  Click here to view photos of our projects.

In addition to these local projects our VIM volunteers traveled to Gulfport, MS, in April 2007 to help with the hurricane recovery.  Click here to read about our work camp in Gulfport, MS.

Many mission opportunities are available with VIM and the United Methodist Church.  Check here for a schedule of national and international mission opportunities.
