CANDLELIGHT
REMEMBRANCE SERVICE
August 14 - 7 p.m.
Companion animals enrich our lives in so many ways, and anyone who has
lost a beloved pet has experienced the sadness and emptiness that accompanies
that loss. Animal Friends offers a monthly Candlelight Remembrance Service.
Please join us for a very special August service to be held in the Prayer
Garden of Frances May-Burke. Rev. Bruce Gascoine and/or Dr. Ron Hoellein
will be leading the service. All are invited to remain afterward for discussion.
Reservations are necessary. Contact Ann Cadman at acadman@thinkingoutsidethecage.org.
SENIOR TRIP:
JUST DUCKY TOURS
Monday, August 11 - Cost: $19
We have 20 seats reserved for the August 11 outing. The deadline for signup
is August 6. We will meet at 9 a.m. at the church to carpool to Station
Square. Please call the Church Office or sign up at the Communication
Center as soon as possible. Thank you.
BUS RIDES
FOR SENIORS COORDINATOR NEEDED
NHSSI has offered bus rides from retirement centers to Sunday services
at St. Paul's since January 2006. The coordination of the program has
been done by NHSSI staff. NHSSI is a non-profit group reaching out to
all denominations. Since riders are primarily from St. Paul's, we are
seeking a St. Paul's member to take over the program. The procedures are
documented and straightforward. This service means so much to the riders,
so please prayerfully consider stepping up and using your talents to help
provide this worthy service. Please call Kathy Belcastro in the Church
Office for additional details.
LEADERS
NEEDED
The Music Ministry is currently recruiting leaders to help with our Children's
Choir program this fall. Rehearsal times and schedules are flexible and
will be based upon the availability of leaders, children, and on current
children's programming. If you are interested in helping us give a "new
look and sound" to our Children's Choirs, please contact Tom Taylor
(ttaylor@stpaulsumc.com or 412.486.7006).
PATHWAYS
MATERIALS NEEDED
Ministry leaders are reminded to send information for fall and winter
ministries to Faith no later than August 6.
ROOM REQUESTS
AND MEETING DATES
Room requests for fall/winter events need to be turned in to Penny in
the Church Office to reserve room use. Please fill out a pink event registration
form at the Communication Centers and also advise Penny of changes in
committee chairpersons/phone numbers so we can update our records. Thank
you.
GARDEN HELP
NEEDED
If you would like to help tend the gardens around the church (weed and
water), please sign up in the Communication Center. NOTE: We now have
two hoses available.
NHCO COLLECTING
SCHOOL SUPPLIES
North Hills Community Outreach is collecting new backpacks and school
supplies for distribution to low-income children in grades K-12. Items
needed include backpacks, pencils, rulers, scissors, crayons, markers,
notebooks, and folders. Please drop off donations in the Ministry Center.
FOOD PANTRY
July Items - Pasta (1 lb. box) and Spaghetti Sauce --- August items -
canned fruit and applesauce
Toilet paper, toothpaste, shampoo and bar soap are always needed and appreciated.
Please place donations in the wheelbarrow in CLC entryway or Ministry
Center. Thank you for your support!
FAITH IN
ACTION VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
Volunteers are needed to provide nonmedical assistance (rides to the doctor,
grocery shopping, friendly visits, etc.) to senior citizens. Training
will be August 12, 9:30 a.m., at North Hills Community Outreach's Millvale
location. For more information, call Cathy.
GROCERY
CERTIFICATES
Cards/certificates for Giant Eagle and Shoppers' Choice are available
following worship (at entrance to the Chapel in the Woods service and
in the Ministry Center after 10 a.m. service). They are also available
at the Church Office weekdays. Use the same as cash; St. Paul's receives
five cents per dollar purchased. Thank you for your support of our F.A.C.E.
Fund (for Furniture And Church Equipment).
PAPER RECYCLING
If the bin in the lot near North Hills Community Outreach Center is full,
there is another in the lower parking lot near the Preschool/Child Care
entrance. Please do not leave bags on the ground if the bin is full. REMEMBER:
WE DO NOT RECYCLE PHONE BOOKS.
Thank you for recycling your paper and magazines with us. Your
donations help the environment and help St. Paul's earn money towards
our Children's Ministries, Mission Share, and NHCO.
