St. Paul’s 50th Celebration

St. Paul’s began in 1966 by meeting in the pastor’s home at 1800 Red Coach Drive but soon moved to the Peebles Fire Hall.  In 1967 ground was given by Evangelical United Brethren Church at our current location.

The 50th Celebration Team is proud to present the following for your review of what is coming.  What a wonderful performance by Etta Cox and our Wesley Choir on Saturday, May 6!  This was a tremendous kickoff for St. Paul’s 50th Celebration.  In the coming months, you will notice several changes around the building and grounds, all getting ready for our celebration events.  There are many opportunities to get involved.  The team meets regularly and if you have more ideas, please contact Carla (cporterfield@stpaulsumc.com) or Linda Cox. Order Commemorative Items from orders forms on the website, the app, or from the Sunday worship guide.

  • Wendell August Forge #2 Aluminum 2 1/8” Ornament, $12.99 each
  • Wendell August Forge #16 Aluminum 2 1/8” Key Ring, $12.99 each
  • Gold Illuminated Glass ornament, $6.99 each
    • This item is on display in Wesley Hall.

All the above orders need to be placed by July 1.  Once the minimum quantities have been reached for the items offered, we will confirm your selections.  The exact cost depends upon total number ordered.  Payment will be due with the finalized order.

  • Commemorative Bricks for Prayer Labyrinth– Order from St. Paul’s Website https://polarengraving.com/StPaulsUMC or use paper forms in Wesley Hall on the display table. A sample brick is on display.  Bricks are 4”x 8” with text is $25 or with a logo for $30.  There are many choices for your consideration. Orders placed after July 1 cannot be guaranteed delivery in time for the Anniversary.  They will be installed when they arrive.

Meet and Greet Our Former Pastors– All former pastors and associate pastors have been invited to come for the September 8-10th weekend.  There will be a breakfast on Saturday morning (9/9) beginning at 9:30 am if you are interested in having some special time with the pastors to listen to stories and visit with them.

Share St. Paul’s History- Carolyn Evans is collecting long-time member stories, so if you have a good historical story, please contact Carolyn (jcgee@verizon.net) or email your story to Carla.

Help with Ministry Displays- All of our ministries will be highlighted.  If you want to volunteer to help with that, please contact Dawn Clark.

Support the St. Paul’s Garden Team-The Garden Team has been working diligently to spruce up St. Paul’s so that the grounds will be lovely for our September weekend.  If you want to volunteer to help, please contact Carol Rodgers (carol.rodgers235@gmail.com)

Donate a Tree(s) – If you want to donate a replacement tree(s), please contact Carol Rodgers.  The Garden Team has selected various trees to enhance the property.  Donor names will be listed in the donor book in Wesley Hall.  We have an oak tree for placement by the prayer labyrinth and three holly bushes for along the front walkway.  Please let us know if you are interested.

September 8th Night Out Pot Luck Dinner at Peebles Fire Hall

(Early St. Paul’s Meeting location)  5 PM – 8 PM

  • Old Fashioned Pot Luck Dinner with appetizers (last name A-H), salads and side dishes (last name I-Q) and desserts (last name R-Z) at Peebles Fire Hall, the gathering site for the beginning years of St. Paul’s. This drop-in celebration (come and go as you please) is from 5:00 pm til 8:00 pm.  We’ll enjoy everyone’s special dish and share stories.  Larry Belcastro will DJ 1967 Music and some 60’s Music.  Parking is available at Memorial Park Presbyterian Church.  There is no parking at the fire hall.

September 9th Anniversary Celebration Day

Saturday, September 9

  • Former Pastors Breakfast Chat: Jeff will host this informal event beginning at 9:30 am and will be held in George Crooks Dining Area.  Everyone is welcome to come, ask questions, or just chat about life.  This will include an optional tour of NHCO.  If you want to help with this event, please contact Linda Cox.
  • Dedication of Trees and Labyrinth Bricks will be a 5:00 pm in the area of the Prayer Labyrinth.
  • Magic Show – Sanctuary 5:15 – 5:45 pm Kids of all ages will enjoy seeing the magic of Amazing Al! Come early and get a great seat!
  • Evening Gala Dinner and Entertainment will begin at 6:00 pm. If you want to help or have questions about this event, please contact Nina Belcastro.  Please register by September 1.
    • The cost for this catered meal is $15.00 per adult, $7.50 for children 5-10, and children 4 and under are free.
    • Entertainment will use a variety St. Paul’s talent for video, comedy, and music. Drew Miller will be our MC and add just the right amount of humor to the evening so that all will enjoy the entertainment!
    • Please request babysitting for children 4 and under.  We will have sitters in the nursery.

September 10th Special Worship Service at 10:30  Bishop Cynthia Moore-Koikoi

  • One Service at 10:30 am our new Bishop Cynthia Moore-Koikoi will be preaching.  This is will be a morning with lots of people…come early and hear the prelude music beginning at 10:15 am.  Overflow seating will be available in the Chapel and Wesley Hall.
  • Reception following the service. Please plan to stay and enjoy seeing friends and guests following the service.  We will gather in Fellowship Hall for light refreshments.   If you want to volunteer to help with this, please contact Ronna Cullen-Doyle. (ronna08@aol.com)

Elf Jr Dec 8th and 9th

  •  Some parts are still available for many ages as well as backstage set design, makeup and dinner support in the kitchen, dining room and cleanup.  Contact Tom Taylor.
